Lubbock Release Mugshots Explained
A booking photograph records appearance during a specific booking. Release does not turn the image into proof of conviction, and the image does not prove that the person remains in custody. The related case may end in dismissal, acquittal, plea, sentence, or another disposition. Match the photo to the person, booking number, booking date, charge, and court case before drawing a conclusion.
The Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, presumes access to government records subject to specific exceptions. Booking photos are not automatically identical to confidential compiled criminal-history information, but access can depend on the custodian, an active case, privacy law, juvenile confidentiality, a court order, or another exception. The sound claim is practical: inspect what the Sheriff currently displays, then request the specific existing image if it has disappeared.
A current roster image can outlive its evidentiary value as soon as status changes. A later copy on the web may omit the release, dismissal, or judgment. The originating Sheriff or corrections record should therefore be paired with the court disposition.
Find Lubbock County Booking Photos
Lubbock has several possible discovery channels, but only one has been verified as a durable after-release route: a focused public-information request to the image’s custodian. The official current roster must be inspected live because the source descriptions do not reliably establish a photo field. The Sheriff app is also verified only as a current-custody search, not a photo archive.

The county’s official roster gateway offers interactive, read-only PDF, and downloadable Excel forms. Format choice improves access to the current list. It does not add history. A photo tied to an interactive record, if displayed, belongs to that booking and should not be treated as a separate recent-release report.
Lubbock Sheriff App Photo Limits
The official Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office app is available through the Apple App Store and Google Play. The Sheriff FAQ says Jail Search covers someone “in jail” and updates every 30 minutes. That cadence describes fresh current-custody data. It does not establish that a released booking remains for 30 minutes or any other period.
No reviewed official source confirms a release tab or booking-photo display in the app. It must not be promoted as a hidden mugshot gallery. Use it to cross-check current custody, then pivot to written records for an image connected to a person who has left the roster. Likewise, Lubbock’s 24-hour jail release path explains that no separate official same-day release feed was found.
Request Lubbock County Booking Photos
The Sheriff’s written route is the strongest photo channel after an active entry disappears. The current LSO-1064 Request of Information form includes Booking/Intake Records, Jail Logs, Movement/Transport Records, and Release / Transfer Documentation. Request the specific booking photograph as an existing record and pair it with the release entry when release status matters.
- Give the full name, date of birth, booking or SID number, case number, and a narrow date range.
- Ask for the booking photograph from that booking, not every image associated with the name.
- Also request the release date, time, type, authority, and destination or transfer agency.
- Prefer electronic copies and ask for an itemized estimate before chargeable work.
- If part is withheld, ask for the cited exception and release of segregable nonexempt material.

The research found no fixed Lubbock booking-photo fee. A narrow request can reduce search and copy work, but no price should be assumed before the custodian gives an estimate.
Government Code Section 552.221 requires prompt production. If an office believes an exception needs an attorney-general ruling, Section 552.301 generally sets a ten-business-day deadline to request that ruling. It does not guarantee delivery within ten days.
TDCJ Lubbock Photo Requests
A person transferred from the Lubbock County Detention Center to TDCJ changes systems. John Montford Unit is a state prison and medical or psychiatric unit in Lubbock, but the Sheriff roster is not its locator. Use the TDCJ offender search to identify current state custody and TDCJ inmate-information channels for state records.
TDCJ’s general email service can supply information such as incarceration history, offense, county, court, present incarceration, and projected release date. It expressly says photographs and Social Security numbers will not be provided through that route. A request to pia@tdcj.texas.gov therefore should not promise a photo. If an image is needed, ask TDCJ which formal records channel applies and accept that an exception may limit release.
The Texas DPS Sex Offender Registry is separate. It may show a color photograph and status information for a person who has a statutory registration duty. It does not cover all released people. Presence does not mean current custody, and absence does not disprove release.

Lubbock Mugshots Beyond Official Records
Commercial aggregation sites may retain booking images after the official roster changes. Those copies can be old, assigned to the wrong person, or shown without the disposition. No commercial mugshot publisher or paid removal service is endorsed or linked. When a copy conflicts with the official record, use the Sheriff, court, or corrections custodian to establish the event and current legal status.
An official Sheriff or police news release may include an arrest image in a matter of public interest. Such posts are event-specific. They do not form a complete release archive, and their continued presence does not mean the person remains jailed. Link back to the issuing agency and read any later correction or case result.
Personal files recovered after release are also distinct. The LCSO FAQ says a former inmate can use SmartInmate credentials to download personal photos, messages, and postal mail without charge. Those are communications-account materials, not necessarily the official intake photograph. A person’s own jail card may be obtained from Detention Records, while another person’s jail card requires an open-records request.
Match Lubbock Photos to Cases
The criminal case provides the context an image lacks. Lubbock County Clerk handles misdemeanor county-court-at-law files, while District Clerk handles felony district-court files. Search with the exact name and cause number, then examine the docket for bond, release order, dismissal, plea, judgment, sentence, community supervision, revocation, acquittal, or appeal. Obtain the signed document when a short docket label is unclear.
The County Clerk states that staff do not conduct a name search for the existence of a misdemeanor case. Once the case number is known, call (806) 775-1046 to confirm copy cost. Published criminal-copy rates are $1 per page plus $5 for certification. District criminal files are handled at 904 Broadway, Room 105, with archives and expunction contacts available through the District Clerk.

Correct Lubbock Release Mugshot Records
Release, dismissal, acquittal, or completion of a sentence does not automatically erase a booking image. Texas expunction and nondisclosure are separate remedies with their own eligibility rules. Chapters 55 and 55A of the Code of Criminal Procedure govern those court processes. No one should be told that every dismissal qualifies or that a release alone compels deletion.
Business and Commerce Code Chapter 109 regulates certain businesses that publish criminal-record information. It provides a no-fee dispute and correction route in specified circumstances, with definitions, thresholds, and exemptions. It is not a blanket takedown rule, does not force the Sheriff to erase a lawful record on demand, and should not be confused with a court expunction order.
If an official Lubbock record appears wrong, identify the exact field, supply the booking and court documents, and ask the custodian about its correction procedure.
